Sadly Leaving Wegberg

I am lucky enough to be on my travels around the world, currently in Germany. I am even more lucky enough to have spent the best part of a week staying with some really fun loving and genuine people who have taken me and treated me like one of their own.

When people repeat the Spanish phrase "mi casa es su casa" { roughly translates as 'my house is your house' } they surely mean it for people such as these, for it is not many people outside of your immediate family that would gladly pick you up at a train station, bring you back to their house, water and feed you for a week, do your laundry, entertain you and introduce you to their best friends as an equal.

Perhaps it could be that we all understand each other, perhaps it is the mutual trust and respect that we have for each other, perhaps it is that they are servicemen and wives or just perhaps we were all friends in a past life I have no idea, but to be honest when things are this good there is no need to waste even a single moment trying to analyse it.

All I know is that I have spent the best part of a week on an army base in Germany, and they treated me not like a stranger, not like a casual friend and not even like royalty but better still, I felt like I really fitted in and belonged, almost as if I was part of the furniture.

We have all laughed, we have joked, we have facebooked, we have swapped stories, we have both viewed and taken some insane photos, we have ate together and I can't think of even one case where there was an uncomfortable silence or treading of eggshells throughout the entire time.

All in all, although Germany is far from my ideal choice of perfect holiday location, the weather was raining for much of it and I didn't really go anywhere or do anything worth writing home about, I had an amazing time and If I could do it all again I would agree do in a heartbeat - in fact, its so good that I will be coming back this way on my return leg through Europe.

To everyone in Wegberg who made my trip what it was { and you all know who you are } "Farewell my friends, look after yourselves and see you all soon"
